Win an ARC of SEVEN NIGHTS IN A ROGUE’S BED!

by Anna Campbell

Oh, I’m excited!

No, Sven hasn’t misplaced his loincloth like he did six months ago. And Paolo isn’t flirting with me – he’s been sulking since I put a frog in his bed a couple of weeks ago. Clearly he’s one of those moody young men who can’t take a joke.

It’s even more exciting than hijinks in the lair.

I HAVE ARCS!!!

Those kind folk at Grand Central Press have sent me a box of Advance Reader Copies of SEVEN NIGHTS IN A ROGUE’S BED (Book 1 of the “Sons of Sins” series) and I’ve kept one by for the Bandita Buddies. So if you’d like a sneak peak of my September 25th release (North America, Australia and New Zealand), just leave me a comment today.

To whet your appetite for my gothic Beauty and the Beast story, here’s an excerpt:

Devon Coast, November 1826

Sidonie reached the debris-strewn end of the beach and reined Kismet to a quivering stop. She turned in the saddle to watch Merrick’s thundering approach. The big bay reared to a halt behind her. Merrick’s easy control over the highly strung horse shivered awareness through her. Those skillful hands that calmed a restless horse would soon touch her body.

As he leaned to pat the horse’s satiny neck, he glanced up at her. A light in his silvery eyes indicated he divined the tenor of her thoughts. Of course he did.

“Feeling better?” That slight twist of his lips cut straight to her heart.

She blinked. Her heart? No, no, no. Her heart wasn’t involved. She veered close enough to disaster bartering her body.

He saw her perturbation. “What’s wrong?”

She bit her lip and chose dangerous honesty. “I keep forgetting you mean to destroy me.”

If she hadn’t watched so carefully, she might have missed the troubled frown that darkened his eyes. It struck her that, if Merrick could read her, she was learning to read him. This encroaching intimacy leached resistance, but she didn’t know how to fight it.

“Nothing quite so drastic, surely,” he said mildly. “This gothic setting plays with your imagination.”

The gelding edged closer until Merrick’s leg bumped hers. He reached to curl his hand behind her neck, tangling his fingers in the strands of hair loosened in her reckless gallop. Heat tightened her skin.

Oh, Lord…

Nervousness crashed through her like a landslide. That cursed promise to allow him access was a mistake, but it was too late to renege.

“Merrick…” She stiffened without drawing away.

“Jonas.”

She narrowed her eyes. “Jonas, then. Let me go.”

Holding her with gentle implacability, he loomed nearer. His answer was a whisper upon her tingling lips. “Oh, no, Sidonie. Never ask me to let you go. Not yet. Not before we’ve discovered paradise.”

“Stop it.” Her heart thumped so hard, she thought it must burst.

“I would if I could.”

She tensed against his grip. “Balderdash. You’re just playing with me.”

“Most definitely, tesoro. But your dilemma is your own fault. You’re so irresistible and I find myself unable to…resist.”

“Command your willpower, Mr. Merrick. Defeat this weakness.”

“I try, dear lady. I try.”

“I’ll bite you,” she said savagely, although she didn’t move.

“I’ll bite you too before I’m done.” His gaze sharpened upon her lips, making her heart hammer a panicked warning. “Eat you like a ripe peach, all juice and sweetness. And lick my lips afterward.”

She knew enough to recognize he meant sin. More than kissing, that was certain. For a rogue like him, kissing must be small beer indeed. “You’re…you’re frightening me, Mr. Merrick.”

Although fear was only part of what she felt. License had never lured her. She’d never imagined she’d give her body to a man. But something about Merrick charged her blood with inchoate longing, despite what she knew of him and what he intended for her.

“Seize your courage, Miss Forsythe.” He mocked her formality. Even she felt idiotic calling him Mr. Merrick when he was about to kiss her. Ruthlessness hardened his jaw. “No more preliminary skirmishes, Sidonie. Let’s start the games. To the victor the spoils.”

I hope you’ve enjoyed this glimpse of Sidonie and Jonas’s turbulent romance. You can read the blurb on my website here:  http://annacampbell.info/rogue.html. There’s also another chance to win one of THREE ARCs of SEVEN NIGHTS IN A ROGUE’S BED in my current website contest so why don’t you swing by there and try your luck? Here’s the link: http://annacampbell.info/contest.html

So that’s your September reading covered. What else are you looking forward to reading in the next few months? There are always great releases over the summer and I know my TBR pile is going to be groaning under the strain of all the new stuff! Leave me a comment and you go in the draw to win a signed ARC of SEVEN NIGHTS IN A ROGUE’S BED. Good luck!

So excited about your upcoming release, Anna. I’ll be looking forward to Victoria Dahl’s “Close Enough to Touch,” Julie Garwood’s “Sweet Talk” and Jaci Burton’s “Playing to Win.”

    • 1.1

Hey, Jane, you’ll need some down time with a good book or two after you’ve coped with the rooster all day! Great selection of books coming up. This is such a great time of year for new releases – the northern summer seems to be when a lot of the BIG books come out.

    Fedora says:

Wow, oh wow, Anna! My TBR is already groaning, of course, but I will ignore its complaints as I have been for years ;) This fall I am very much looking forward to Ann Aguirre’d conclusion to her Sirantha Jax series, Endgame.

And YAY for ARCs–Seven Nights in a Rogue’s Bed sounds delish!

    • 2.1

Hey, thanks, Fedora. I love Ann A’s stuff. Really strong heroines! I’m so excited I’ve got a new release coming up. Feels like ages!

    Adria says:

What a teaser! Way to get me interested in a book too! While I am eagerly awaiting the next releases by Tessa Dare, Jennifer Haymore, Lydia Dare and Gaelen Foley, I find that there’s always room for one (ten) more on my list :)

Adria, lovely to see you. Is this your first visit to the Bandits Lair? You’ll have to come again – we have margaritas and cabana boys! Or cabanas and boys called Margarita? TBRs are always works in progress, aren’t they? Great selection!

    Sue says:

WOW, cant wait to read this series it looks awesome. Now which books can I delegate to the banished book case to make room for these

    • 4.1

Sue, the banished book case? That sounds a punishment positively biblical in effect! Thanks for saying you like the sound of the new book!

  5. 5
    Linda says:

I’m anxiously awaiting the release of Kristen Callihan’s Moonglow & also dying to read Kylie Griffin’s Alliance Forged (just released). The 1st bks in their respective series were my fav reads this year. Can’t recommend them highly enough!

    Josie C says:

Reading that excerpt makes me want September to be here already ;) As to your question, there are a few books I’m really looking forward to reading: The Warrior by Margaret Mallory, The Way To a Duke’s Heart by Caroline Linden, All Afternoon with A Scandalous Marquess by Alexandra Hawkins, How To Romance a Rake by Manda Collins, Never Seduce a Scot by Maya Banks, When She Said I do by Celeste Bradley, Obsession Wears Opals by Renee Bernard and Sweet Deception by Heather Snow. I have more books on my to buy list, but these are the ones that I can’t wait to get my hands on.

    • 6.1

Wow, Josie, let me guess – you like historicals! ;-) What a great list! You’re going to be busy! I read Miranda Neville’s Confessions from an Arranged Marriage on the weekend and loved that too – highly recommended if you want yet another book to add to the pile! Thanks for saying you loved the excerpt!

    Efthalia says:

Anna, just dropping by to say hi.

If I was Sidone, I would have jumped his bones. Why wait?? If his voice is the way I imagine it to be then….swoon!

Anyway I’m off to stick my head in the freezer to cool down a bit. That man is sin!

    Happily Smiling,
    Effie

    • 7.1

Effie, isn’t she a silly wench that she doesn’t? Goodness me, takes him a little bit longer before he gets her to that point! Snigger! Thanks for swinging by and saying you enjoyed (snigger again) the excerpt.

      • 7.1.1
        Efthalia says:

Anna, always enjoy reading your teasers. They are just enough to keep me wanting more.

Anyway I better stop talking and imagining what Merrick will do to Sidone and start dinner before the kids eat my arms off.

        smiles,
        Effie

    Debra Key Newhouse says:

My TBR pile always groans, but when one of your books come out, it somehow moves to the top. Hmmmm. Wonder how that happens lol. I love the name Sedonie! The blurb you gave us makes me realize how far away September is!

    • 8.1

Debra, it’s a big secret but I’ll share it with you – I go into the book warehouse and train the books to JUMP!!! Yes, that’s right, they’re Olympic jumping books! Thanks for saying you love Sidonie – I think it’s a really pretty name too and when I was writing the book, I had fun calling this exquisite creature Sid. She really isn’t a Sid! Snork! Thanks for saying you’re looking forward to the book!

  9. 9
    Leontine says:

I’m a puddle of want after that excerpt! You’re such a wicked woman!! Anyhoo, *clears throat* Two of my most anticipated releases are Kristen Callihan’s Moonglow and Laura Wright’s Eternal Beast.

    • 9.1

Hey, Leontine, great to see you here! And so glad I tortured you with that excerpt! My work is done. I love Kristen’s first book – I was lucky enough to read it as an ARC for a quote and I knew I had something special straightaway. I haven’t heard of Laura’s book – I’ll have to check it out.

    aretha zhen says:

hi Anna, congrats for your new book and wish you all the best. About my tbr lists there are too many books that makes me feel confused which to read first but still I just can’t resist t the temptation to buy new books. My tbr list, firelight -kristen callihan, defiant -pamela clare, jilted-rachael johns, some YA books legacy and allegiance by clara kulver, the goddess interrupted the series by aimee carter, and the most anticipated releases including kristen callihan moonglow, lord of fire and ice by mia marlowe

    • 10.1

Wow, Aretha, sounds like you’ve got some great reading ahead of you. I’ve heard really great stuff about Rachael’s Jilted. Sounds like a wonderful Aussie romance! And it’s wonderful to see new releases from Pamela. I love her books.

  11. 11

I love your beautiful covers! So colorful! Sounds like the book will be too!

    Good luck with the revisions!

    • 11.1

Guess I’m too tied up in my re-writes, I meant good luck with the sales!

      My Blog

      • 11.1.1

Hey, Lindsay, a good luck is a good luck is a good luck! Thank you! I’m actually just putting the final touches to the first draft of the second book in the series as we speak so the Sons of Sin are very much in my mind right now. Isn’t that cover glorious? I just love it! Thank you so much for swinging by!

  12. 12
    Melody May says:

Really I have to choose which I’m waiting for the release. Ugh, that’s like asking me which child is my favorite. However, my TBR list is an ever growing one.

    • 12.1

Melody, I know exactly what you mean. I keep adding to my TBR pile too. And of course then I go and ask a silly question about books coming out – and I add more books again!

  13. 13
    Annie West says:

Anna, congratulations on being so close to the release of ‘Seven Nights in a Rogue’s Bed’. Having only read this book in ms form I can’t wait to get my hands on the real deal, especially with that sumptuous cover. Readers have a real treat in store for them this time round. I don’t know how it is but you keep coming up with great ideas for sexy, intense stories. Sigh. Another classic Campbell on its way.

As for Sept reading…my ms will be top of the list, but I’m hoping for some other books along the way. Thanks for sharing the pic of Dunstanburgh Castle by the way, it brought back great memories.

    • 13.1

Annie, I can remember the two of reminiscing about how spectacular Dunstanburgh Castle is over a glass of red wine or two. It was the inspiration for Castle Craven – although CC is SLIGHTLY more habitable. Thank you so much for swinging by and saying such nice things! Good luck with that manuscript!

  14. 14
    Mary Preston says:

Congratulations Anna!! SEVEN NIGHTS IN A ROGUE’S BED looks absolutely wonderful.

I have a reading list that is deliciously & decadently long. HAPPILY EVER AFTER by Harriet Evans is next on my pile.

  15. 15
    E Thompson says:

I am looking forward to the new books by Julie Garwood and Catherine Anderson coming in the next few months as well as several others! I don’t know how I will ever have enough time to read all of the books I want to. I wish I could get a job where someone would pay me to read! The book sounds great and I can’t wait to read it.

    • 15.1

Thanks so much, E! I’m so excited I’ve got these lovely ARCs to give away. There’s some really major releases in the next few months, aren’t there? Oh, my aching Visa card!

  16. 16

I used to read historicals religiously but somehow they slipped by the wayside for a few years. Now I’m drooling over Michelle Willingham and Marguerite Kaye and this Rogue of yours has saliva drenching my shirt front. Not a good look.

    • 16.1

Fiona, as the writer making the saliva drip, I have to say I’m highly flattered. Which doesn’t mean I wouldn’t want rubber gloves if I had to touch you right now, LOL! I discovered a great new historical writer on the weekend – Jeannie Lin who writes really unusual stories set in 8th century China. How’s that for an exotic location? Read The Dragon and the Pearl and jumped straight online and ordered her other two books. So we’re clearly both having a bit of a historical fest at the moment!

  17. 17
    Anna Sugden says:

YAY Another Anna Campbell treat! Can’t wait!

Well, the TBR mountain is toppling and I’m way behind as usual. With a holiday in Sept, though, I’m looking forward to catching up on my reading. I have Karen Rose’s No-one Left to Tell, Lorraine Heath’s latest series (which I can read back to back!), SEP’s Great Escape and the next JD Robb to look forward to – as well as all our lovely Bandita books from the past couple of months!

    • 17.1

Ooh, Anna, great selection. I’m wondering whether I’m going to be extravagant and buy the Susan Elizabeth Phillips in hardback. I absolutely loved the last one and Lucy Jorik is one of my fave SEP characters ever. I’m dying to see her get her happy ending. Thanks for saying you’re looking forward to Rogue – been a long time since I’ve had a new book out, I’m looking forward to the excitement of having something new on the shelves.

Hey, was watching the ads for the London Olympics this afternoon on TV and thinking of you. Did you get tickets for any of the events?

      • 17.1.1
        Anna Sugden says:

No we didn’t :( . In the end, it became too much of a chore, so we gave up trying. But we did see the Olympic flame arrive in Cambridge at the weekend – which was great! We may try to see some non-ticketed events like the marathon at some point.

  18. 18

Holy dooly, 36 comments already!! People certainly are clamouring for your ARC, Foanna. Hmm, there’s something vaguely cheeky about that, isn’t there?

Can’t wait to see this book on the shelves! It’s so passionate and intense and sexy. Readers are going to love it! Gorgeous excerpt! And the cover is just exquisite. The first in a new series, too, which is even more exciting. And AHEM! I’m still waiting for a sneak peek at book #2, might I just remind you??

      Beebs says:

      Hi Christina

Just wanted to say, loved A Duchess to Remember. In fact, love the series. :)

    • 18.2

Christina, I can’t help it if I’m a girl with a shapely ARC. The cabana boys have been admiring my ARC for ages! Snigger! Hey, thanks for saying such lovely things about Rogue. And yes, you’re definitely on the list to see book two! I should finish the first draft this week – phew!

  19. 19
    Beebs says:

Wow oh wow, what a teaser. This is already on my wishlist, can’t wait.

So many books on my TBR and I’ve been adding more as I scrolled through the comments. Looking forward to the next from Tessa Dare, Katharine Ashe, Gaelen Foley and Liz Carlyle. :)

    • 19.1

I did a big pre-order on bookdepository the other day so I’m stacking up the TBR pile. Liz Carlyle is definitely an auto-buy for me. Also Loretta Chase.

    • 19.2

Beebs, there are so many great historicals out at the moment, aren’t there? It’s so hard to keep up with them all. And a new Liz Carlyle is always a red letter day in my house! Thanks for saying you liked the teaser!

Helen, I’m so looking forward to introducing you to Jonas and Sidonie! I hope you enjoy their story – it’s a real Beauty and the Beast one and I know you like that theme!

    Dianna aka Hrdwrkdmom says:

I am almost afraid to look at what is coming up, my tbr has taken over the house. My daughter came in from TX and was in shock at the number of books around here. I told her if she messes with them she will lose a hand.

Love the blurb but I already knew Seven Nights in a Rogues Bed was going to be a must have. It is by Anna Campbell so what else can I say? :-)

    • 21.1

Awww, Dianna, you’re a sweet talking devil! Thank you! So glad you’re looking forward to reading the story. Only a bit over two months and it’s out – 25th September. Felt like forever a few months ago but the time has really gone quickly this year. And I hear you on the TBR pile. I don’t have a garage. I have a book room!

  22. 22
    Maureen says:

It looks like a great story! September seems like such a long way away but then all of a sudden it is here. I think Carolyn Jewel has a story out in September that I am looking forward to too.

    • 22.1

Maureen, I love Carolyn’s books. Must check out the new one! Thanks for saying you’re looking forward to SEVEN NIGHTS IN A ROGUE’S BED.

and time to celebrate this new release, congrts, Anna :)

    • 24.1

Eli, the gold is really in for covers. I think it gives such a rich effect. I’ve noticed a lot of white covers lately too. Thanks for the congrats!

    Laurie G says:

” I hope you’ve enjoyed this glimpse of Sidonie and Jonas’s turbulent romance”

WOW! I definitely would love to read more please!

Currently I scoop up historicals and contemps.

SEP, Grace Burrows, Rachel Gibson, Jill Shalvis, Christina Brooks, Manda Collins, Sherry Thomas, Michelle Willingham, Sabrina Jeffries, Karen Hawkins, VLT, Nora Roberts… all the Banditas!!

    • 26.1

Gosh, Laurie, that’s one tottering TBR pile you’ve got there! I want to come and raid it! And you can’t go wrong with a Bandita book!

  27. 27
    Dorene W. says:

I haven’t read any of your books yet but I can’t wait to hit the bookstore today! Your excerpt is to blame!

    • 27.1

Hey, thanks, Dorene! My evil work is done. Bwahahahahaha! Actually it’s a fine art, choosing the right excerpt. I have a critique partner (the wonderful Annie West) who gets to make the final selection for me. It was actually quite difficult with Rogue – the bits I went to first were either not G rated or gave away too much of the plot.

  28. 28

would like to start reading Historical novels and would start with yours. I must be the only person in the world who doesn’t have a Kindle please take heart for me

    • 28.1

Marcia, what a heartfelt plea! Love it! Actually I don’t have a Kindle either but I’m seriously thinking of getting one. A lot of stuff is coming out as e-book only and my printer is getting sick of printing out the PDFs! Good luck!

  29. 29
    May Pau says:

What a gorgeous cover! :) Can’t wait to read it! Love Beauty and the Beast stories…. :)

I am also waiting to read Sherry Thomas’ latest. I waited years before she came out with a new book!

    • 29.1

May, isn’t it tough when your fave authors don’t write fast enough? And thanks for saying you love the cover – I love it too. I think it’s so rich and lush and sexy. Actually it’s ages since I’ve had a book out too – Midnight’s Wild Passion was May 2011!

  30. 30
    CrystalGB says:

Hi Anna. Loved the excerpt and cover. Sounds like an awesome book. I am looking forward to Nalini Singh’s Archangel’s Storm.

Of course you left us wanting more (sigh). Ever since My Reckless Surrender, yellow has been my favorite book cover color!! I’m waiting for Kathryne Kennedy’s newest book to come out since I’ve read her entire backlist lol.

    • 32.1

Catslady, I love discovering an author with a big backlist. I’ve been on a bit of a mystery kick lately and because I haven’t read mysteries in years, most of the authors I’ve picked up have a nice long list of books I can read to catch up. Yeah, there’s something about a yellow cover, isn’t there?

  33. 33

Anna – And what a glimpse it was! I can’t wait for this book!

As for my reading, you might recall my request back in May for recommendations of books where the love scenes are particularly stirring. The request was preparation for a Sept. workshop on sizzling sex. Well – I’m working my way through that list. Just finished a BDSM erotica. Not exactly my cup of tea, but educational all the same :-) . Check that one off – moving on.

  34. 34

Congrats on your new book! Books I’m looking forward to reading? Except for the latest in Death book, I really have no idea.

Like everyone else, my TBR pile is this big honking monster that is rearing it’s head throughout my house. I still find myself adding to it. It’s gotten to where I close my eyes and pick one from the closest stack.

    • 38.1

Leah, I’m very glad the peach stuff worked on you! I think it might be working on Sidonie too! Laughing at you describing the TBR pile as a honking mess! What a great term! And it suits my honking TBR pile too!

    • 40.1

Mariann, I haven’t read Jaci’s books. I’ll have to check her out. Man, I need to join PJ with the reading clone and the private income! Hard to keep track of all the wonderful books out there.

the “library” for fear of losing them amongst
    the stacks!

As for new releases, of course, all of the Ban-

Anne Long, Lisa Kleypas, Caridad Pineiro,

Anna, what a tease you are!! :( Now I have to wait until September to read it!!! more pouting!!!

I think I love Merrick already!

    Anna G. says:

Having been a recipient of the lovely Anna Campbell’s ARC generosity previously, I abstain from this drawing… but, as a HUGE fan of Anna Campbell, I have to chime in to say that I can. not. wait. for Seven Nights!!! September 25th is going on my calendar as a dedicated reading day.

But I have to ask… Sidonie? Charis was troublesome until I saw it rendered in the Greek. This one is French and pronounced as it’s spelled? Until I ran it through the miracle google machine, I first thought it was Irish and lord knows I haven’t the first clue about how to pronounce things written in Irish. How do you come up with these names?

    • 48.1

Anna, are you struggling with Sidonie? There, there. Here have this tincture of historical romance tea I made specially for you! I think it’s Sid-OH-nie in English. It actually means woman of Sidon – yes, I spend far too much time on Wikipedia! I promise my next girl will be Jane. Oh, no, she’s not – she’s Genevieve which thanks to you, I’m now pronouncing French style too. Perhaps Genevieve will be a specialist in French kissing! And thank you so much for saying you’re looking forward to the book!!!! xxx

    Diane D - Florida says:

Oh Anna, I love the excerpt, it was delightful, delicious and has left me wanting more. I love it where’s there’s chemistry between the hero and heroine.

I’ve added this to my “wish list”. I always love your books, which never fail to please me.

I’m also looking forward to reading Katharine Ashe’s book, “How a Lady Weds A Rogue”, “The Laird Who Loved Me” by Karen Hawkins and “Surrender of a Siren” by Tess Dare.

Gorgeous cover on your book with gorgeous colours.

    • 49.1

Diane, thanks for saying that the excerpt tweaked your interest! And I just love that cover too. So lush and romantic. Sounds like you’ve got some lovely reading ahead of you. Lovely to see so many historicals listed by people today! Love it when my genre gets the lurve!

All I know is that Amazon loves me because I am constantly pre-buying all my favorite authors that I don’t even remember when their books are being released, they just magically arrive on my kindle! Of course when my credit card statement comes in I realize maybe a kindle isn;t the way to go… Looking forward to your new release!

    • 50.1

Thanks so much, Wendy! I pre-order too and I’ve recently started to check before I order – ended up with multiple copies of so many books! There’s a Madeleine Hunter I bought four times! Oh, well, they make nice giveaways and it’s lovely to share books we like, isn’t it? Laughed at you groaning with the Visa. I know exactly what you mean!

    JOYE says:

I am looking forward to reading the rest of Sidonie and Jonas’ story. Also, any by Sandra Brown and Bertrice Small. Hopefull, I will have time to read a bunch more.

    • 51.1

Joye, I can see you’re a fan of the classics! And thanks for saying you’re looking forward to finding out what happens between Sid and Jonas!

  52. 52

    Hola Anna!

Congratulations on your latest release! I’ve pre-ordered it and can’t wait to get my hands on it.

I’m reading an old Rona Jaffe novel, a book (can’t remember titles!) by Elizabeth Essex, and one by Jo. I had to box up my books because we’re having the bedrooms painted. I found a couple of Dorothy Dunnett books I’d never read, and I think you had recommended them. :)

    • 52.1

Jen, the Dorothy Dunnetts are my favorite books in the world although I’d strongly recommend reading them in order if you’ve The Game of Kings (Lymond) series. She times her revelations with the precision of a watchmaker. Amazing stuff! Thanks for pre-ordering. That’s music to my ears, even more than Suz’s pout! ;-) Sounds like you’ve got some great reading on the go. I’ve never read Rona Jaffe but my Grandmother had the Best of Everything (is that the title?) on her bookshelf and I remember seeing the movie with Hope Lange years ago.

Oooh, can’t wait to read SEVEN NIGHTS IN A ROGUE’S BED! And since my TBR mountain is already on the verge of toppling over, I may as well add some more, right. lol

    Mozette says:

Woot! An ARC copy! Well, I’ve already entered on your online competition, so what’s the harm in entering here… :D

I’m looking forward to reading more of Stephen King’s ‘The Dark Tower’ Series; as I’ve got the first two books… great stuff! But with books that are in a series, I like to read something in between them – so I’m not so stressed out. So, I’ve been recommended ‘Arcadia’ by Lauren Groff by Greg Zimmerman from ‘The New Dork Book Review blog. I’ll see if I can get my hands on a copy of that and get my nose in between the pages of it. Then read some good classics too as our weather cools right down before Spring hits. :D

    • 54.1

Mozette, it’s a perfect day for reading here. Chilly and damp and foggy. Sadly, I have to write! Oh, well, I suppose if I can’t be consuming, I may as well be producing. Good luck in the draw!

Don’t I know it! I’m here in Logan City with my house all locked up and my little budgie still under her nice warm covers so she doesn’t get chilly. :)

Me? I’m online dressed warmly and have only just pulled on a poncho I bought last year for a costume party (and I was going to give it away; but it’s lovely, knitted and warm! So, why would I want to?). They say it’s going to be 20 deg Celsius… but I doubt it. :(

    Nancy Northcott says:

Anna, I’m so looking forward to this book! That’s a fabbo excerpt.

Upcoming reading? I still have A Duchess To Remember and am looking forward to that, now that I’m out of the cave. I also have backlist from Karen Rose and Allison Brennan. I’m looking for RS series with continuing or overlapping characters. I think Cindy Gerard is launching a new series this fall. I have Diane Kelly’s Death, Taxes, & Extra-Hold Hairspray.

Plus there’re loads of Bandita books!

    • 55.1

Nancy, our Banditas have been publishing at a rate of knots, haven’t they? All that wonderful reading at our fingertips! Thanks for saying you enjoyed the excerpt! I was trying to be tantalizing! ;-) Can’t wait to read Renegade!!!

        Nancy Northcott says:

Thank you, Anna! I can’t wait to see Renegade in book format.

Yep, banditas have been blazing. I think Trish is cooking up something special about that for August. Not sure she’s ready to announce it, though.

still working on the summer (ok & some of spring) reading! & you want me to think about books coming out in the fall! you iz a crazy woman :D ok if you insist, besides you ;) my fall release wish list includes books by: tessa dare, stephanie laurens, julie ann long, eliazabeth naughton, sara humphries, coreene callahan — gotta stop before I go crazy figuring out where all the time for reading is going to come from (of course you know I’m gonna find as much time as I can ;) who needs to clean or such) :)

    • 56.1

Cleaning, Gamistress? What is this thing of which you speak? Is it a strange American custom? LOL! Yeah, I’d much rather read than clean too! Love your list of books coming up. See, you met the challenge, you came up with a wonderful selection! Thanks for saying you’re looking forward to Rogue!

    Louisa says:

HAND OVER THE ARC and NOBODY GETS HURT !! Did Sven just faint? Sheesh! Every time I read that excerpt my inner greedy reading diva jumps up and down screaming “I want it! I want it! I want it!” The book, I mean. Or Merrick. Either way works for me! I have Loretta Chase’s latest and I hope to add Sherry Thomas’s latest to the TBR stack. HOWEVER, I have been threatened with bodily harm from a small group of writers if I don’t finish my current WIP so no reading for me until I do! POUT !!! However, an ARC of your latest might be just the inspiration I need to finish this #$^&ed book, La Divina Campbell. No pressure! :)

    • 57.1

Oh, the good old appeal to my artistic duties tactic! It always works! Hmm, well, it SOMETIMES works! Get to work, you! Thanks so much for saying you like the excerpt! I love writing first kisses – I think you probably know that! Good luck on finishing the wip – and people getting out the whip for you finishing the wip!!!!

    Jo Robertson says:

Pssssttt! Very hot excerpt, Anna! I love Beauty and the Beast stories and have been looking forward to this one.

Did you know that Merrick is the name of my hero in my soon-to-be-leased YA?

I’m reading two of Jo Nesbo’s stories and enjoying them, although I’m have a hard time keeping the stories apart LOL. Next up is the book for my book club which is Jeffrey Archer’s “Only Time Will Tell.” I’ve never read Archer before.

    • 58.1

Jo, Jeffrey Archer was tremendously popular here back in the 80s and 90s – his reputation was rather tarnished with the jail sentence! Hope you have fun with his book! Thanks for saying you enjoyed the excerpt. How funny we both went for Merricks. Someone emailed me yesterday and pointed out that I might have been thinking of the Elephant Man. You know, I might have been. There’s definitely a Beastly element with the EM!

Congrats on your new release! I just bought Shadow of Night the sequel to A Discovery of Witches. Can’t wait to read it!

    • 60.1

Hi Molly! Everybody was talking about Discovery of Witches (I didn’t read it – maybe I should!). Hope you enjoy the sequel. Thanks for swinging by and offering up your congratulations. Good luck!

    • 60.2
      Nancy Northcott says:

Molly, I also loved A Discovery of Witches and intend to pick up the sequel. I’m a bit nervous about the third book, though, because the books are labeled “fiction,” not “romance.”

The “fiction” crowd tends to prefer (though there are exceptions) an ending in which the grieving heroine nobly carries on alone, clinging to the memory of her dead lover, and not have HEA. So I won’t be picking up the third book unless it’s HEA.

  61. 61

Well, guys, my day in the spotlight is drawing to a close. Thank you so much for your wonderful enthusiasm for the extract and for the chance to win an ARC. Don’t forget to check back tomorrow to see who gets the advance copy of SEVEN NIGHTS IN A ROGUE’S BED. Good luck, everyone!

I’m definitely looking forward to reading Seven Nights in a Rogue’s Bed, as well as Eloisa James’ The Ugly Duchess, Ann Aguirre’s Endgame, and Kristen Callihan’s Moonglow.

    • 62.1

Ooh, great list, Barbara! I’m looking forward to Eloisa’s latest too. Did you know she’s coming to Australia in August? She’s the keynote speaker at the Romance Writers of Australia conference. Really looking forward to seeing her! Thanks for saying you’re looking forward to Rogue!
