The Lair in August

Hi, everybody, and welcome to August in the Lair!  The weather in my part of the world is sweltering this month, so I’m glad to kick back, let Sven pamper me, and see what everybody’s up to.  Here’s the list for this month:

Bandita Jeanne will blog on her usual day of August 8th.  Expect some “forthcoming books” news and maybe even a cover reveal!  Even if it’s not on the 8th, keep a weather eye out for notices of other blogs this month which will feature a cover reveal…big stuff coming soon!

Bandita Nancy is going to blog about guilty pleasures on August 12.  Yes, really and truly.  Honest to goodness.  She’s looking forward to being back in the Lair at last.

No releases for Bandita Donna this month, but thank you all for giving IN A HEARTBEAT, a good launch.  She’ll be at the Rust City Book Con from August 11 –InaHeartbeat_Nook 14th in Troy, Michigan (near Detroit).  If you’re in the area, stop by for a hug and a peacock feather 🙂  Donna can tell you all about the Con in her normal August 23rd post, or as that day will be the tenth anniversary of her very first sale – she can reminisce about changes from 2006 to 2016.  Tell Donna which topic you prefer by August 18 and she’ll oblige.

Bandita Nancy is also going to blog on her regular day, August 26, chatting about summer and vacation and whatever comes to mind.

If you’re in the northern hemisphere, how are you copying with the lazy, hazy days of August heat?  If you’re in the southern hemisphere, what’s your favorite thing about the weather there now?

Happy August. Can Sven bring over a glass of iced tea when he’s not busy. We were under a heat dome this past week and it was pretty unbearable, especially when in the subway stations. Already dreading the Con Ed bill.

    • Jane –

I sit outdoors when I write. I’m not in the sun, but I’m in the heat. The ice in my iced tea doesn’t stand a chance. We’ve had the air conditioning on and, like you, I dread seeing the bill.

Hard to believe, though, that it’s August. School will be back in session in just a couple of weeks. The summer has flown by! Some day I’m going to figure out how to slow things down so I can enjoy them a bit more.

    Yay August!

I love seeing all the pictures and hearing about all the fun to be had at cons that I never make it out to. Heh.

Ugh, when it’s bad, it’s fairly icky here. Sitting in front of the fan and drinking lots of cold water and juice helps. And maybe beer. And sprawling and not moving. And reading. Reading is good for many things. 🙂

    • Hey Pisssenlit!

That’s one for the con. 🙂

Oh man, it is indeed sprawling weather. One nice thing – I get to do water aerobics in a refreshing outside pool. I’m guessing it won’t be so refreshing after all this hot weather, but at least it will be wet. 🙂

I LOVE the heat AND humidity. I know, I’m weird.

This summer my daughter-in-law and youngest grandson, 10 months old, are spending the summer with us. My son is an over the road truck driver, so tosave some money, they’ve moved in. It’s wonderful havinga baby around again, Iit’s been 5 years since the last one, but just watching him learn all his “firsts” Iis amazing. Today was one of those days, but It also happened to be one of the very few times I didn’t have my phone close at hand to take pictures. He has a little pony which plays music and today he hopped on Iit like he’s ridden It his entire, short, life. After he got on and figured out how to play the music he proceeded to dance for us. Needless to say my daughter, dil, and I were clapping up a storm for him. We’ve had so many of these days this summer, just makes Iit better and better.

    • Hi Amy!

To be honest, those are the kind of memories I’m hoping for when my first grandchild arrives next month. Life’s too short not to enjoy those moments. So glad you’re making wonderful memories.

    • Hi Helen –

Cold and rainy sounds heavenly, right now, as it’s hot and steamy here. Still, I’m right there with you about the more hours in a day. When you figure out how to do that, let me know 🙂 🙂
