So Long! Farewell! Auf Wiedersehen! Adieu!

Well, kids, it’s my last regular blog day here in the Lair. Somehow, though, it doesn’t feel like it. I fully intend to come back and harass you guys from time to time. You know, new releases. Special events. I will probably also host guests and just come by to say hello.

Red Door Reads profile picY’all know we are moving lots of our activity to our Romance Bandits Facebook page, right? Well, I am usually terrible about posting things to Facebook, but since Red Door Reads and now Romance Bandits are using it so heavily, I am trying—slowly, painfully—to change my slothful habits and hang out there more. Really!

killLarry2dThe Red Door Reads chicks have kicked my behind long enough and hard enough that I actually have a NEW novella coming out in April. It is called CROSS SPRINGS SCANDAL and it is the story of what really happened to Katie Warren’s husband Larry. Larry has been dead for a year when Tiara Wars begins. We know Larry had a massive coronary, but we only get some sketchy details about what brought it on. Cross Springs Scandal will give you the rest of the story, told from the viewpoint of a certain Other Woman. Sounds super fun, huh? Cross Springs Scandal is available ONLY as part of the novella anthology 50 Ways To Kill Your Larry. It is available for pre-order now from all major e-tailers for only 99 cents! But the anthology of 10 novellas is a limited time release and won’t be for sale long, only a few weeks. Snatch it up while you can! All pre-order links are available at the Red Door Reads website.

Pageflex Persona [document: PRS0000031_00004]If you haven’t yet read Tiara Wars, shame on you! Just kidding. You will have the chance to buy it ON SALE in March. Keep your eyes peeled and on those Facebook pages! I will also be announcing it in our Romance Bandits newsletter, so be sure to sign up here! And to keep up with what I am doing, sign up for my newsletter here!

In case you haven’t sensed it yet, there is a theme here. Sign up for things! Like things! Subscribe to the Romance Bandits RSS feed on our comments page! Stay notified! I am, selfishly, glad not to be forced to blog several days every month. But I am going to be forced to post to Facebook and to update my lamentably neglected website. So hang onto your hats, Bandita Buddies, ’cause things be changing and we very ancient Banditas be changing with them!

Okay, that was BORING! Now, tell me what you are changing this year. Not whatever you resolved for the New Year and promptly forgot, but what you are really changing. I am moving my fat butt around more this year. I have been doing a pretty good job of that so far. Now your turn!

    He gets to keep me!

  • Am Conley says:

Caren, after this paast year I want NO changes, NONE, ZERO, ZIP, thank you very much!

    • Am Conley says:

Except maybe my hair color. (I’m getting it done tomorrow is what reminded me. 🙂 )

    • Caren Crane says:

AGREED! I love it when nothing changes. At all. But totes with you on the hair color. OMG, it’s been about 8 weeks since I last colored mine and, let me tell you, those gray ones won’t do a THING without color!

But as for the rest, we’ll just have to adjust, I suppose. Change is most often thrust upon me and I have to learn to deal. I really HATE change. Maybe that will encourage me to get my kiester over here and post some stuff! 😀

  • Jane says:

    Hello Caren,
I’m with you about moving around more. I’m trying to limit my sugar intake and hopefully soon I won’t even need sugar in my coffee and tea. See you on FB.

    • Caren Crane says:

Jane, I think you are really brave to do the no-added-sugar thing. It can be really tough. The worst thing I ever did was give up carbs completely. I lost 30 pounds, but not sure it was worth it. Seriously. I’ve gained them all back in the past 12 years, but I have enjoyed the carbs a LOT. About 30 pounds worth!

Good luck on the moving around more AND the no sugar thing. Both take a lot of determination!

  • flchen1 says:

Hi, Caren! Bye, Caren 😉 LOL! Actually, it’s see you real soon 😀

As for changes, I’ve had some changes forced upon me with this injury, and maybe it’ll ultimately end up being good 🙂 At the moment, I’m having to NOT move, but I hope in the long run, I’ll be stronger, faster, more able 😉 We’ll see!

    • Caren Crane says:

Fedora, you know you can’t get rid of me that easily. I see you all over FB! 😀

I hope you heal quickly and do gain more movement and mobility and all good things. I’m sure it’s making you crazy being immobile, though! I would slowly lose my mind and watch WAY too much TV!

  • Helen says:

    Hi Caren

I know I am going to still “see” you around 🙂 🙂

I really need to catch up on your books sorry I loved the first one and the others are waiting on my kindle for me 🙂 🙂

The only thing I have changed is the fact that I no longer work yay 🙂 and now I am wondering how I ever found time to go to work lol

    Have Fun

    • Caren Crane says:

Helen, it is a great comfort to me to know I will keep seeing you on FB. Seriously, you have the cutest grands ever! 😀

Now that you have retired (yay!) you will have lots more reading time. I envy you! But man, does that “free” time ever fill up fast. I’m sure your family and friends are keeping you hopping. Enjoy every minute of it!

  • ki pha says:

Sweet !!! So definitely getting my hands on that Anthology! So many of my favorite authors in there so why would I miss it? =)

But awww~ You too? I suppose I’ll see you around, which is a definite yes because I’m always on FB.

But what I’m changing this year is more exercise and saving up on the greens~> money. And most definitely being more organized with my books and space, so some cleaning is in store for the spring/summer.

    • Caren Crane says:

Ki Pha, definitely lots of FB action going on. I’m glad you’re excited about the “Kill Larry” anthology. That one has been lots of fun for us. All original material, too!

Exercise, saving money and cleaning. Man, you set some stretch goals this year! 😀 I mean, cleaning more is always on my list. But unless something happens (like when our bedframe broke), the serious cleaning doesn’t happen, with the moving all the furniture and stuff. It makes me feel faint just thinking about it. Good luck with that!

  • Posh!!! Big hugs on your last day. Looking forward to seeing more of you on Facebook and to your new releases coming up. How on earth did you come up with the title for that anthology? LOL I’m intrigued!

As for new things…I’m trying for a more balanced life. Not sure I’m succeeding but I’m trying!

Best of luck for the future, Bandita. I know this isn’t goodbye for us, but thank you for all the good times we’ve had on the blog and in person and here’s to more in the future. I raise a raspberry mojito in your honour!

    • Caren Crane says:

Christina, you only WISH you could be shed of me so easily. You know I am still accumulating those air miles in an attempt to get to Australia one of these days. The whole country may be sorry when I get there. 😀

I am trying to post more on FB, using my actual author profile rather than my personal one. It is a struggle. Everyone (including those here) shows up in my personal feed but not the author one. Oh, well. I may just lose that battle!

As for Killing Larry, there is a story but I can’t tell it here. It will have to wait until we are together and have alcohol! 😀

And as for your goal, I have been working on work-life balance for about 29 years now. Since the kids are grown, it seems to be getting closer. *cue hysterical laughter* Keep working at it. It gets better!

  • Shannon says:

Aw, bye-bye… at least until I recover my FB password.

It was a pleasure to get to know you.

My “big” change is slowly reducing carbs and sugar. (So she says as she plans to make cookies for work on Thursday.) I have switched from flavored creamers to milk. I now, eat half my sandwich with bread and half with knife and fork. Small changes, but change. Now if I could give up pizza.

    • Caren Crane says:

Shannon, get that FB password, STAT! Getting to meet you in person was a real highlight of my 2014, so we need to chat on FB!

Oh, the carbs and sugar. As I told Jane, I did that and lost 30 pounds about 12 years ago. It works well, but man is that hard to sustain for a lifetime. I only eat complex carbs and whole grains (when I eat them), but it all packs the weight right back on. Man, salad only gets you so far, especially when my husband won’t eat mammals or have it in the house. AND I don’t have a cook. Maddening! 😀

  • Deb says:

Best wishes to new endeavors and changes, Caren! It’s good to know you will still be popping up here and there. 🙂

Hmm, changes or new things in my life….
Actually, a major one for my family will begin tomorrow. My dad is moving into an assisted living/memory care unit. It is a good place and he will have wonderful care. My mother, naturally, is feeling guilty, yet relieved, because she is becoming physically and emotionally tired. And, after 60 years of marriage, it is a difficult thing. But, it will be a good thing for both he and Mother, …..I hope.

Oh, my husband is going to paint the kitchen….soon? Eventually….? He’s had the paint for over a week, haha. Just off-white to go with any and everything.

Take care and hugs to you, Caren!

    • Caren Crane says:

Deb, I hope I’ll see you on FB and everywhere else. I will keep turning up like a bad penny, for sure. 😀

((hugs)) on your dad moving to assisted living. I’m sure it will be a huge relief to your mom (at least in part), but all the changes are hard on everyone. I hope it’s a great thing for all of you.

Painting? Color me excited! Our bedframe broke a couple of weeks ago, so we ended up moving most of our bedroom furniture and buying a new bedstead. I pushed the DH – HARD – to finally paint our bedroom (for the love of all that’s holy!). He told me to take a few deep breaths and it would pass. ARGH! We’ve lived here 22 years and have painted every room in the house EXCEPT our bedroom, the guest room and the dining room. I think I deserve an actual color on the walls. That battle will have to wait until spring, I’m afraid. ENJOY your newly painted kitchen! I’m totally jealous.

  • LOL, Caren, I’m loving the title of the anthology…50 Ways To Kill Your Larry!! hehehe

Seriously, with new Indie publications, we’re get to have more creative ideas like this anthology to come along.

Well, while the Bandits are moving to FB, you and I get to have some face-time in May at the Romantic Times convention here in Dallas!! And that is something new for both of us!! Can’t wait! 🙂

    • Caren Crane says:

HA! We are really enjoying this anthology, Suzanne, and the promo will be really fun when it rolls out. We have a coffin-shaped box for the prize basket we are assembling. So fun! 😀

I can’t WAIT for RT! I have never been, so I am both naive and ignorant about the whole thing. I also have NOTHING going on. Didn’t even get into the booksigning, so I am a free agent for the whole thing. No plans, no nothing. Looking forward to hooking up with you and your friends so I will know someone there! Bandita time is always the very best time ever.

Plus, the good old 50th birthday while I’m there! The DH had the nerve to act mildly offended that I had made plans for my birthday that would take me out of town. Not that he had anything planned, or even PLANNED to have anything planned. Apparently, I am supposed to be thrilled that he wants to spend (yet another) quiet evening alone with me. Um…I’m going to Dallas! 😀

  • Kaelee says:

Arrividerci! Cheerio!! Caren ~ I will miss you. I’m not on Facebook and don’t plan to join.

Only major change planned this year is when to put our old cat down so not looking forward to that. I’d like to say I’m going to get my house cleaned and organized but that would take a major miracle.

    • Caren Crane says:

Oh, Kaelee, I hope you at least subscribe to the RSS feed (on the right side of the comments page here). It will send you an e-mail whenever we post a new blog. Also, newsletter will still be coming out! I will miss hearing from you, though. Sadness!

So extra sad you will have to decide about your sweet kitty, too. You can usually tell when it’s time, though. They just get where they are done and don’t want to eat anymore. Always so heartbreaking! ((((hugs))))

And if you figure out the magic spell to cast over your house to get it clean and organized, please let me know. I could use a miracle, methinks. :/

  • Mozette says:

Okay…. this is the, what?, fourth one I’ve read where you’re leaving this site… I hate to ask, but where are you all going?

I love coming here, and yes, I hate change. Actually it takes a while for me to adjust to change, and once it’s happened, I’m kinda okay with it – but only kinda.

This year, though, I’m cutting back and decluttering. It’s something I’m working on and have been working on for about 3 years and I have had small victories and major setbacks, but otherwise, I’m going well. And this year, is going to be the major year where a lot of my junk/crap gets sorted and thrown out and my house townhouse actually looks and feels like a nice little home instead of messy teenager’s bedroom…. which is most days.

I hope to see you guys on FB more…

    • Caren Crane says:

Mozette, love, we’ll be around FB and other cyberspaces. It was just time for a change around here. Gotta keep moving and shaking things up (so they tell me), so we’ll try FB a while. And I loathe FB!

Good on ya for working on the decluttering. I seriously need to declutter the whole house. Problem is, I end up wanting to toss everything of my husband’s, but hanging onto my stuff. It’s horrible! Plus, it takes approximately forever. Ain’t nobody got time for that!

  • Pissenlit says:

Aww, Happy Last Regular Blog Day! Yay, coming back and harrassing us from time to time!

I’m with you on the moving my fat butt around some more. My clothes have gotten a little snug…when they’re not supposed to be. 😛

    • Caren Crane says:

Pissenlit, you know I’m always good for some harassment. It’s practically a specialty of mine! 😀

Call me when it’s time to shake tail, will you? Because I’m kind of doing more of the same instead of something new. Doh!

  • I am counting on seeing you on Facebook AND back here in the Lair every time you have a new book coming out or every time you simply want to crash with this amazing community you and the other Bandits have created!

I know I need to move around more than simply walking the floors of Walmart 8 hours per day and I definitely want to change my diet. About the time I get a few days under my belt without sugar or carbs, the boss pulls another “COMPLETE ***HOLE” routine and all I want is a Coke and a pound of Cadbury’s or an entire Domino’s pizza!

And, of course, I am venturing into indie publishing which I truly hope is a great change for me!

See you on Facebook, here in the Lair and hopefully in New York? MWAH !

    • Caren Crane says:

Louisa, I here you. Every time I make some headway in the carb-free direction, I get sick or I am trapped in the house for a week or my day goes straight down the crapper, practically forcing me to head for a bottle of wine and the jar of peanut butter. Gah! The world is a cruel place for us comfort eaters. Sheesh!

Indie publishing is awesome! I think you will love the freedom of it. Can’t wait to see more of your stuff loose in the world!!

I will definitely see you here, on FB and…around. I won’t be in NY for the conference this year, but I will be at RT in Dallas in May FOR MY BIRTHDAY. I hope to get to next year’s conference, but a lot depends on the budget. So far, it’s not looking too good! I will hunt you down, though, never fear! 😀
