New Chit Chat

Posted by Beth Andrews Aug 20 2012, 4:00 am
I’m hiding out in the writing cave working on the first book of a new series for Superromance (and to show you I’m hard at work, here’s a picture of the collage I made for Talk of the Town) and didn’t have

time to update my Chit Chat page on my website. On my Chit Chat page I share what music I’m listening to, what books I’m reading, things I’m currently loving, what I’m watching, what I’m looking forward to and which of my recipes I’m craving, so I thought we could do another Chit Chat post here in the lair
Here’s what I’m currently…
…Listening to:
Closer To Fine by Indigo Girls
Found Out About You by Gin Blossoms
…Reading:
Turning Pro by Steven Pressfield
All the magazines that are starting to take over the corner basket in my living room
…Loving:
My new DVR. I haven’t actually watched anything I’ve recorded yet, but I’m having fun pushing that little red “Record” button *g*
…Watching:
Recently saw The Odd Life of Timothy Green which I loved and War Horse, which I basically bawled through
…Looking Forward To:
Football season!
Hockey season!
But mostly, I’m looking forward to Back to School Season (and I’m not ashamed to admit it *g*)
…Craving:
Pico de Gallo (from The Pioneer Woman)
- 5 whole Plum (roma) Tomatoes
- 1/2 whole Large (or 1 Small) Onion
- 3 whole Jalapeno Peppers
- Cilantro
- Lime Juice
- Salt To Taste
Chop up the tomatoes, onion and peppers to a small dice, add chopped cilantro to taste, stir together. Squeeze lime over and add salt to taste! Can’t wait to make this with some fresh Roma tomatoes from our garden
Tell me what you’re currently:

Hi Beth,
Listening to “Little Talks” by Of Monsters and Men and “It’s Time” by Imagine Dragons
Reading Jill Sorenson’s “Caught in the Act”
Loving the iHeartRadio app
Watching “Strike Back” and “Copper”
Looking forward to end of summer sales, baseball playoffs and hockey season(hope there’s no lockout)
Craving cheese fries
Congrats on nabbing the rooster, Jane! I’ve heard he has a great nose…er…beak for sniffing out the best sales *g*
I recently bought “Little Talks” too. Great song!
I’m a little nervous about the possibility of a lockout but I’m trying to just remain positive
Jane, wasn’t the primiere of COPPERS last night? I totally MISSED it and am furious with myself because BBC doesn’t often have their shows OnDemand.
Was it as good as I thought it’d be? I love that time period and place, and have read all the buzz about it.
Copper looks so good but I’m half-afraid to watch it. It’s that too dark thing again. Well, actually, I don’t have a problem with dark but I have to like the characters (which is why I don’t watch Mad Men. It was too hard for me to root for any of them).
Beth
I do like when writers are busy writing great stories for us YAY.
I am just listening to what is played on the radio at the moment I have been watching the football games on TV as we are getting close to the end of that season and the cricket will start soon which I also love, I am reading Christina’s A Duchess to Remember and Loving it not craving anything at the moment LOL just enjoying my grandkids and my reading
Have Fun
Helen
Hey, Helen! I’ve never seen a cricket game. Maybe now that I have all of these channels (they came with the dvr *g*) I’ll find one on one of the many sports’ channels
Hi, Helen, do you ever find yourself craving another GRANDBABY?? I do!! My youngest is now nearly 4 (Emma) and I’m craving a new baby!!! Sadly enough, my children are all finished with having kids, so I may have to remain at 13 grands. They’re not nearly as much fun for me from ages 6-12. Sigh.
Jo
My youngest is 17 months old little Josh is so full of energy LOL I still have one daughter who has not found her hero yet so maybe I will get another couple of grandchildren the other 3 have finished as well so for me I have 6 until Kirsty finds her hero. I do miss have a baby around LOL
Have Fun
Helen
Helen and Jo,
I am NOT craving another grandbaby at the moment. With 4 of 5 4 and under, we’re too busy with little people around here!!!
I am currently:
Listening to: Ellie Goulding – Lights, Katy Perry – Wide Awake
Reading: Just finished ‘The Maze Runner’ and ‘City of Bones’ (Trying to get my oldest boy more interested in reading, he’s a big Percy Jackson fan)
Loving: Today was the first day of school, my youngest started kindergarten, so having an empty house during the day is both a relief and a ‘what am I supposed to do now?’ feeling!
Watching: ‘Doctor Who’, ‘Alphas’, and ‘The Hunger Games’
Looking Forward To: the start of the new season of ‘The X Factor’
Craving: More coffee, always!
Hi, Kestrel! Enjoy the first day of school! Hope your youngest was excited *g*
“Wide Awake” was another recent addition to my iPod! And I love The Hunger Games movie – will have to pick the DVD this week.
LOL on craving coffee. I just told my youngest it was time for me to take some iced coffee and get back to work
Ah, Kestrel, isn’t that moment when the last child goes to kindergarten poignant? I remember so well feeling that mixture of relief and sadness.
Listening to: Carly Simon,Joe Cocker,Kenny Loggins and Johnny Rivers(I guess I am just old school)

Craving: anything chocolate
Oh, Gail, you totally get why I’m ready for school to start (next Monday’s the first day here, btw) I want my house back! Not sure it’s even possible for my sanity to return. At least not while I still have two teenagers at home
Love Netflix! My youngest is currently catching up on all The Office episodes *g*
Gail,
Isn’t Hell On Wheels good? Very gritty!!
Listen: to my son, hoping he will go back to be. Sounds like no luck.
Reading: this blog, just kidding. I’m currently reading Marrying Up by Wendy Holden
Loving: school starts in a week and half
Watching: haven’t found the show to watch while I wait for Game of Thrones comes back.
Looking forward: the end of baseball, not a fan.
Cravings: nothing really.
I haven’t watched much TV this summer either, Melody. I realized I’ve been missing the new Project Runway, though and now I’m hoping to catch up on that with my daughter.
I enjoy baseball if I can attend a game but it’s not that exciting to me to watch on TV.
GAME OF THRONES, yummmm, Melody. I’m so afraid George Martin will die before he finishes the series. He’s getting up there in age and looks like he has a lot of extra weight.
Hi Beth! So great to see you. Love the collage! And good luck with the new book.
Listening to: 30 Seconds to Mars, The Story
Reading: Getting ready to read Slammed.
Loving: my coffee. Great cup this morning. LOL
Watching: Burn Notice, season Five on Netflix
Looking forward to: Release day for Ripped! 8/31. Nervous about that one.
Craving: More coffee.
Yay on the imminent release of RIPPED, Mia. I’m sure it will be a huge success!
Hey, Mia! Thanks for the good wishes – I need them. At least until school starts and I can get back into my regular writing routine *g*
Congrats on the new release!
Great topic, Beth! Recently I’ve been listening to classical — yeah, I KNOW, what’s up with that? — and classical strings, of all things!
Loving the return of “Hell on Wheels” because I think Anston Mount is muy delicious.
Waiting for fall to bring cooler weather as we’ve been battling 100+ degree weather for days.
Looking forward to enjoying “Breaking Bad.” I bought the first season because it’s gotten so much buzz, have only seen one episode, but am afraid it’s a bit too dark for me. Can you believe that?
Cravy McDonald’s vanilla milkshakes. This is NOT a good thing. Maybe it will pass with summer.
Jo, I’ve passed on Breaking Bad so far and while I have Weeds in the Netflix queue I’m not sure it’s for me either.
LOL on craving a McDonald’s milkshake. Yesterday I was craving a vanilla milkshake from my favorite local restaurant but luckily, that craving passed
Fun post, Beth! Glad you’re writing away – more fab books for us to read!
Listening to – The Puck Podcast (yes, it’s hockey and yes, they broadcast during the off-season!). Also Mayhem by Imelda May and Thin Man by Caro Emerald.
Reading: Two fabulous romantic suspenses – Merciless and Senseless by Mary Burton. Best I’ve read for a long time – and she even caught me out! About to glom onto all the rest of her books.
Loving: summer! Yes, the rain has stopped and we have hot weather!
Watching: White Collar, Covert Affairs, Leverage and Rizzoli and Isles. Also Perception – after some folks here on the blog recommended it. Also trying out Burn Notice – not sure if it’s for me, but will give it a few more episodes.
Looking forward to: need you ask? hockey season! Please let there be a hockey season!
Craving: hot, buttered popcorn. Don’t know why. Just leaped into my head when I saw the question!
PS forgot to add – looking forward to my home-grown corn ripening. My first attempt at growing it and it’s looking good!
Anna, I love Burn Notice but have yet to catch up on all the episodes. Michael is a great character *g*
I had popcorn twice over the weekend – at the movies Friday night (buttery and salty) and hot air popped Saturday (salt, a bit of canola spray and fresh, grated Parmesan cheese *g*) Yum!
Reading – three books. Almost through Master of Torment by Karin Tabke, Just started Karen Marie Moning’s Dark Fever, In the middle of a book about twins for research.
Loving the cooler temps. I hate air conditioning. Love open windows.
Watching the HBO series The Newsroom. Great series!
Looking forward to – Fall. Love the crispness, the colors, all the conferences and book signings that come with the fall and football.
Craving – anything sweet. Tired of passing up desserts due to the creeping waist line. Just discovered a bunch of platters in a drawer in a chest of drawers that was buried ins the basement. We got rid of a bunch of stuff in a garage sale and uncovered the forgotten bureau. Checking the drawers and I found the sweetest Christmas platter covered with gingerbread men. Now I want to bake cookies!
Donna, Fall is my favorite season! It doesn’t hurt that two of my kids and I all have Fall birthdays *g* Plus, this year I’ll be doing a bit of traveling with my older daughter to check out some colleges. One is in Nashville which means I’ll get to see my son before Thanksgiving!
I gave in and finally bought the pretzel M&Ms to try. I like them but so far, my willpower has been strong and I’ve only had a few
Not sure I could resist cookies, though!

Craving: A homegrown tomato and mayo sandwich.
Hope your mom has a wonderful birthday! And congrats on the new grand-niece or nephew *g*
Just had a lettuce and tomato sandwich at my mom’s the other day but her tomatoes aren’t as good as the ones my husband grew
Nothing beats a tomato sandwich made with a homegrown tomato.
Hey Beth!! Love the collage!
Listening to: The sound track from the Hatfields & McCoys. Very moody for writing dark sexual scenes!
Reading: Sweet Talk by Julie Garwood.
Loving: the cooler weather. I brought it home from Ohio with me to Texas!!

Looking forward to: Football!! (Go Browns, Go Buckeyes)
the new season of NCIS!!!
Craving
Whoops forgot craving…
Beef Stew over biscuits
Chili
German Chocolate Bundt Cake
Pumpkin Pie
Yum!
Thanks for bringing in that cool weather! The
temps were down a bit here in Houston but
most important of all, the humidity was down!
That German Chocolate Bundt Cake sounds
great! Is it listed in the Members Den? SIL
loves German Choc. Cake!
Pat C.
Hey Beth!! Love the collage!
Thanks, Suz. I wasn’t sure it was something I’d enjoy doing but it was a lot of fun. So much in fact that I’ll probably do one for the next book, too *g*
I can’t believe I’ve been missing Project Runway! That’s what I get for letting the kids or husband run the remote
Girl, it has been full of drama and it’s only like the fourth week!!
More drama than last year? Ack!! Now I’m really kicking myself. Will catch up on the episodes online this week!
I wish I could do the collage thing. I’m lucky if I get a picture of my hero and heroine on the cork board.
So here’s mine;
Listening to — nothing much but I love the Train song 50 Ways to Say Goodbye
Reading — nothing at the moment because I’ve been too busy. But my Kindle wants to be used so I’ll pick something soon.
Loving — watching the cats on the screened porch. They love to be outside.
Watching — Suits and wishing the season finale wasn’t on Thursday.
Looking forward to cooler temperatures!
Craving a frozen yogurt. If I can get
10 pages written tonight, I’ll reward myself.
Christie, I only started using pictures of real people for my heroes and heroines recently (I include links when I fill out my Art Fact Sheets *g*) so it’s something new. My collage isn’t very “arty” but it works for me – especially the quotes.
That Train song cracks me up. The first time we saw the video, my daughters insisted he was singing “I’m all out of lies and ways to say good-bye.” It took some time for me to convince then the lyrics are, “I’m all out of lies and ways to say you died.’”
Beth, what a fun post! I love The Indigo Girls, BTW.
Listening to … Nothing regularly right now.
Reading … Dragon Justice by Laura Anne Gilman, last if the Paranormal Scene Investigations series, at least for now.
Loving having the boy for a little longer and getting to know his girlfriend.
Watching … White Collar, Burn Notice, Hawaii Five-0, The Newsroom, and Tom Selleck’s Friday at 10 on CBS show I can’t remember the name of.
Craving … Fresh tomato sandwiches
Good luck in the cave!
So glad you get the boy for a little longer, Nancy! My son and his gf came up for Easter and it was so great seeing them together and getting to know her *g*
What a cool post, Beth! And keep writing! We crave more of your stories!
Listening to : In the Tatra Mountains by Vitezslav Novak
Reading : The Fire in Fiction by Donald Maass
and Forever a Lady by Delilah Marvelle
Loving : Listening to the rain on the tin roof of my house and enjoying the cooler temperature even if it is just temporary!
Watching : BBC’s Pride and Prejudice (Wrong way, Mr. Collins!)
Craving : My Mom’s chicken and dumplings!
Thanks, Louisa! I’m writing away but I’m really hoping my productivity increases next week when these girls are back in school *g*
I’ve been craving chicken and dumplings, too! Maybe when this book is done, I’ll whip up a batch to celebrate
Oh! We haven’t had one of these for a while! Okay… I’ll play!
Listening to: Triple M Brisbane. It’s a radio station that was the first FM station in Brisbane and was known as Stereo 10 at the time. Very cool. I love it!
I listen to the morning show, then it stays on all day for Little Miss Stevie (my budgie) who happens to love anything heavy metal! Strange bird…
Reading: The Dark Tower Series by Stephen King. I’m up to book 2. I’m sooooo hooked!
Loving: Spring … it’s coming and I can see it approaching around me. I love it.
Watching: ‘The Sons of Anarchy’…. ooooh, Jax is such a babe!
*fans herself with a ‘Good Reading’ Magazine.

Craving: Ratatouille… home made of course… with parmisan cheese and home made garlic bread (that’s just home made garlic butter spread on a roll and grilled!
).
Hey, Mozette! I’ve read a few Stephen King novels but haven’t tried him in a while. I keep telling myself I should, especially some of his short stories.
I’m looking forward to my birthday, too (but it’s not until November) I’m NOT looking forward to my older daughter turning 18 next month or my son turning 21 in Oct. Where did the time go?
Hi Beth,
Listening to my sister talking aka gossip
Reading Royal Street by Suzanne Young
Loving my holiday time
Watching my computer
Looking forward to giveaway :p
Craving to eat chocolate
Eli, I’m hoping to keep the chocolate craving at bay by allowing myself a few pretzel M&Ms a day. We’ll see how it works *g*
Listening to – Mumford & Sons.
Reading – I’m in between books at the moment and haven’t decided what to pick up next.
Loving – My brand spanking new birthday gift card to the bookstore! Uhhhh…I mean…my friends…who gave me the gift card…LOL
Watching – clips of Horrible Histories on YouTube. Oh boy, I’m totally laughing myself silly…AND learning at the same time!
Looking forward to – rewatching The Secret of Kells on my friends’ big screen tv now that I’ve piqued their interest in the film.
Craving – A day ago, I would’ve said cheesecake but since I came home with half of my 10″ strawberry birthday cheesecake yesterday, not so much anymore.
Now, I think the answer would have to be lobster.
LOL. I have the new Mumford and Sons song on my iPod! Love it!
It’s my husband’s birthday and he always wants cheesecake, too. Though he likes his plain *g* Hope you had a great birthday!
