My Luckiest Day

PJ1Well, I think it’s pretty fitting that myΒ  blog day lands on Friday the 13th. It fit perfectly into the theme for this last post.

I am so damn lucky.

Yes, it was a choice to join up with a handful of 2006 GH finalist to build The Lair. I’ve learned a LOT from these ladies about a LOT of stuff…including but not limited to, writing, Indie publishing, networking, the wonder that is Costco πŸ™‚ and loads of other things. Lucky for me we’ll still be together on FB, twitter and other venues. I also had a great opportunity to host some special guests over the years. I suspect it was to keep me from stalking them, but I know you added them to your TBR pile.

The luckiest part though? Was meeting all of the BB’s. I mean to tell you, you all are my friends. You are my readers and you are the BEST cheerleaders a girl could ask forΒ as I took the step to Indie pub my Romans. Oh sure, you bought my books and yes…that’s great as I am career focused as an author (Please God let meΒ be able to goΒ part time as a nurse :0) BUT, more importantly, you liked my stories. THAT matters to me because I love writing stories. Must be the Irish in me πŸ™‚

Here is a photo album from the past eight years:Louisa

I know I’ll see ya’ll on FB, Twitter as I launch my new paranormal series. I need the energy and time from blogging as I have 9 books to tell the Leithprachaun clan’s story. To help celebrate, one lucky BB will win a KindleΒ copy of Ruarc: Bound in Stone on it’s publication (expected by St. Patrick’s Day).Β  Now, I’ll be at work all day today (sigh) but will be able to read comments. Know this….I love you, each and every one!

    • Jo Robertson says:

We need to find a way to photoshop all of us into one giant photo, don’t we, Helen?

    • Joan Kayse says:

Oh, Helen…I just want to give you a big, squishy hug.

I ADORE you and SO mad at the person who won my lottery ticket! I had plans to hop on a private jet and land at your door! Sigh, some day.

In the meantime, we WILL be in touch!

      • Helen says:

Joanie, I love Friday the 13ths πŸ™‚ They ARE lucky! And I know you love us, Joan–we love you right back!! It’s been such a joy to get to know you here in the Lair, and now elsewhere πŸ˜‰ Wishing you loads more books!

    • Joan Kayse says:

Aww, Fedora…thanks! I hope it didn’t hurt your little toes to type that πŸ˜€ One advantage to a hurt foot (and there aren’t a LOT) is you get to read….on pain meds πŸ˜€

Remember, the ortho nurse is at the ready.

  • Jane says:

I’m sure I’ll see you around on FB, Joanie to hear all about your new series.

    • Joan Kayse says:

Thanks Jane! I hope we’ll get a chance to run into each other since RWA is in NYC this year…I’ll be at the Times Square McD’s saying “What? You ran out of Diet Coke!”

Or at Juniors scoffing cheesecake πŸ˜€

  • Amy Conley says:

Good luck, Joan. That paranormal sounds pretty good to this Irish girl. πŸ™‚

  • ki pha says:

Oh it was so great to meet you here in the Lair, Joan. If it wasn’t for this I may have never gotten to read your stories. They’re my first Romans so they’re always be a part of you with me. πŸ˜‰

I’ll definitely be seeing you around and am highly looking forward to Rouarc, I mean looked at him, He’s gorgeous! Cheers to you and your new adventure.

  • Sally Schmidt says:

It wasn’t that long ago that I discovered the Lair, so I will definitely be following everyone on FB and keeping up when there are posts here. So many more stories to check out. Good luck with the new series.

  • Shannon says:

It was Friday the 13th that I won my first raffle. I tink it was a $50 of tires. My Mom took the coupon and gave me money over time. We were pretty poor.

It’s not quite so lucky it your last post but I’m looking at how wonderful the time has been. Change can be difficult but it can be good. Best wishes on what you do and good luck where ever you go.

  • Aww, Joanie!! (((HUGS)))

You are my special Bandita. Who else can get just as gross as me about bodily fluids and laugh as hard over chaotic emergencies?

Who else can you text in the middle of the day to say you haven’t peed, your feet hurt and yet another patient was just dumped on you and know you’ll get a sympathetic, sarcastic text in return? πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚

You know I love, love, LOVE your Romans and your new Irish series…cannot wait to get my very own copy.

And of course NY will be great fun for us to get together and chat away the day, er night, er week!!!

  • Maureen says:

Good luck with your new series! It looks like a good one!

    • Joan Kayse says:

Thanks Maureen! I think it is and thank the black haired, blue eyed Irish stonemason who was working on a stone wall and bent over at JUST the right time to inspire me πŸ˜€

  • Deb says:

Joanie!!!! I love your Roman stories…and look forward to any new stories you will create. I am so happy you have become my friend as well as the two of us having an author-reader friendship. We may never have met in person, but you are supportive of me when I post silly, mundane, or emotional comments on FB. You make me laugh as do many of the other Bandits.
Best wishes on your endeavors in writing, nursing, and having fun with your kitties. Love and big hugs to you!!

    • Joan Kayse says:

Aw Deb, I feel SO lucky to have gotten to know you! You’re the American equivalent to Helen. I’ve BEEN to Iowa ONCE…it was kind of flat but it would make it easier for me to find you πŸ˜€ I’m also planning more Roman books too…..darn characters won’t be still for a minute. (&*%$^$ Um, that was Grayson’s contribution (Get off the keyboard, monkey cat!)

  • Colleen C. says:

Sounds like a series I would enjoy! πŸ˜€

  • Minna says:

    Sounds like a great series!

  • I count myself lucky to be among this group as well, meeting and getting to know people like you, Joanie. And I know I’ve said it before but it bears repeating — that cover for Ruarc is awesome.

  • EC Spurlock says:

We love you too Joanie! I love your Romans so much, and I can’t wait to start this new series! It’s got all my buttons pushed!

I feel very lucky to have found this wonderful community of great writers and friendly, fascinating Bandita Buddies. Thanks for letting me get to know you and your books and all the fun conversations that have gone on here in the lair!

And Friday the 13th is very lucky for me — it’s my youngest son’s birthday. πŸ™‚

  • Joanie, what a great selection of photos! I’m going to miss your posts here but will look forward to seeing your updates elsewhere on the Web.

I love your new cover! Can’t wait to see what the first book is like.

  • Lovely post, Joanie T and thank you for putting up all those pictures. A lot of my Bandit photos seem to be stuck on my old laptop. Must rescue them before the laptop dies!

You’ve been such a valued member of our team, always there to give hugs and you always make me laugh. Thank you for a load of great memories, and here’s to many more to come. All the very best with the new series, too! Can’t wait for it to begin.

  • Jo Robertson says:

Thanks for the photo gallery, Joanie. A great trip down memory lane. I can’t believe it’s been so many years — almost nine? — that we’ve been together.

I didn’t even realize it was Friday the 13th. Time to watch a horror movie!

We love you, Joanie. You keep us real.

  • pjpuppymom says:

Love you too, Joanie! You always make me laugh, my friend and your kindness touches not just mine but many hearts. The photo from last summer brings back one of my favorite memories from RWA San Antonio. <3

I'm so glad you made the decision to share your characters with the world. Can't wait to get my Irish on with your next book!

    Big hugs…

    • Joan Kayse says:

PJ, I feel as if we’ve always known each other. Your a wonderful lady and I value your friendship and thanks for liking my books….I’ll ALWAYS be there!

  • Caren Crane says:

Joanie, I’m so happy we will be seeing Ruarc soon! I feel like I’ve been waiting for him forever! πŸ˜€

I also love that your post fell on Friday the 13th – a special day for those of us who were born on the 13th, like you and me! I generally have great luck on Friday the 13th and this year was no exception. Seeing your pictures from our years together was icing on the cake of my day today!

I will be sitting over here waiting impatiently for Ruarc to make an appearance. I hope you’ll post on the RB page on FB when the book comes out. I’ll be watching for it!

  • Pissenlit says:

Aww, another last post! I love it when Friday the 13th ends up being lucky for people. Happy Last Blog Post Day!

Everyone’s so smiley in all those photos! πŸ˜€ And that cover’s very pretty! *grin*

  • Love those photos, Joanie! And I am such a huge fan of your Romans I just know this next series is going to be AMAZING !! Here’s to both of us going part-time at our day jobs ASAP !!

All of these last posts make me sad, but I know so long as the Lair is open there will be a place for us to wander back to for reunions and I’ll be following the Bandits anywhere they appear.

  • Joan Kayse says:

As ya’ll see I’m FINALLY home from work! I did read these posts all day (can’t post from the hospital…party poopers) and they lifted me up!

If you haven’t already, LIKE me on

  • Kaelee says:

I ‘m not on Facebook so I will really miss you. Thank you for all the wonderful pictures and good luck in all that you do.
