How totally fun! I love these–will have to take a closer look and see how I do! Happy new book, Kate!
I think I got 9… trying hard not to peek
Congrats on taking home the GR, Fedora! Maybe he can help you find the three differences you missed. Snork!!!!! Glad you enjoyed the little game. Some of the differences were much easier to spot than others.
Congrats on the GR, Fedora.
Have fun with him Fedora
Helen
Fedora, I got nine also.
Congrats on nabbing the rooster again! When he was last here, he found a TV show about two guys traveling across America and drinking a lot of wine. The dog reports he seemed enthralled. Sorry I don’t know what it was, but maybe there’s something similar on today in your area.
Congrats on the upcoming release, Kate. It took me a while, but I got 11. I missed the closed door in the back. I definitely would spend a few minutes playing these types of games.
That door was a tricky one. Some of them, you probably don’t see until after you read the answer. Then it’s, “Ohhhhhhhh!” Others, like the tortoise on the wall, I found right away.
Found all twelve. The wax on the candle took me the longest to find, though.
I like the change-up of words, like grave to gravy and deadly to silly. Made me smile.
Thanks for the fun!
Wow, congrats, Laney! You’re gooooooood.
Kate
I got 9 and the last one I got was the two hangings missing on the wall next to the moose head, that was fun and yes I would spend sometime playing on your website.
I am soo looking forward to reading this one I am off to pre oeder now whoohoo
Have Fun
Helen
Interesting, Helen! Which 3 did you miss? (There are 12 differences.) I’m just curious.
Kate
I missed
The candle wax
One book in the gravy
A week in the country turns silly
The rest I got but it was fun
Have Fun
Helen
Thanks, Helen! I was just curious!
Kate, in the deadline cave today so sadly can’t hang around to play but I wanted to say yet again HOW MUCH I LOVE THAT COVER!!!! You’ve really been so lucky with the mysteries. Those covers are to die for. Can’t wait to read what’s in between the covers (and perhaps under them!).
Thanks for popping your head out of the deadline cave, Anna! Yes, I have been blessed by the Cover Gods, for sure. And they’re so filled with fun things to look at, that they inspired this game. There aren’t a lot of book covers that you could do this with, I don’t think. Looooove them!
Now get back to work!
I got 10, missed the silly weekend and the title on the table although i did check both but miss read them
I think my eye glossed right over that book title several times before I finally got it! TERROR and HORROR look a lot alike!
I got 10, missed the candle wax dripping and the newel post. Had fun though. Congrats on the new release.
Thanks, Beebs! That newel post acorn kind of blends into the brown of the staircase. It’s surprisingly difficult to find, even right in the middle of the picture!
I do love puzzles. So, absolutely. Included inside a book would be great.
Oh, that’s a fun idea, Mary! I wonder if my publisher would agree to that. Hmmm…..
Congrats on the book, Kate
I got 11….. the last one I got was the wax but I could not find the last which was the Grip of Horror
It’s so fun to hear which ones were the hardest to find! So far, no one has missed the extra cat in the room… or the Mona Lisa. LOL!!! They’re pretty obvious!
I found 8 right away but had to check the list for the other 4, eyes are way too tired this morning.
I would spend some time looking for clues on your web site.
I’m glad you had fun, Dianna! I hear ya on the tired eyes. I’ve been in the deadline cave so long that my eyes are WORN OUT.
What fun, Kate! I love these kinds of games! I got 10 fairly easily, but didn’t get the candle dripping wax or Grip of Terror/Horror.
No! Don’t put these on your website, because then I’d be forced to procrastinate and spend time there playing with all these puzzles! LOL
LOL!!!! But I’m pretty sure that’s a good thing… for ME, Anna! And you know it’s all about me. Snork!!!! Glad you had fun. That candle wax is getting a lot of people. I’m surprised. It is small, but it’s front and center, and I thought more people would find it right away. SO FUN!!!
I got them all except the words… you know book titles and the hidden words in the sub-titles.
This brought back a lot of memories of playing these kinds of games in the Sunday comics when they used to have ‘Spot the Difference’… and you had to spot 12 differences between two similar pictures. But they were stopped for some reason.
Oh, that’s fun, Mozette! Your eyes must have skipped right past the words. I really love hearing which ones everyone did and didn’t get. Only one person so far got all 12!
Fun! I found eleven in short order, but it took three tries before I found the wax drip on the candle. But I was determined and persisted until I had all twelve before I moved past the pictures.
Surely I’m not the only one who wastes time with similar puzzles in People every week.
Janga, I love and hate those People puzzles! I find them addictive, but then I get really annoyed when they make a change that’s so subtle that I have a hard time seeing it even after I know what I’m supposed to be looking for! That feels like trickery!
Good for you, getting all 12 in the PERIL IN PAPERBACK cover! You’re only the second person who has done so.
Kate, you are so freaking clever! What a cool game, bandita. I used to love the “hidden objects” puzzle in Highlights magazine.
I got 9. Haven’t looked at the answers as I’m in the deadline cave with Anna C. But I plan to try again when I finish this chapter.
I would definitely play this game on your website. And I just have to say the cover fairy clearly loves you. This one is as great as the rest.
Thank you, Nancy! You know, in one of the other covers, I might just have to include a picture of a fairy, as a nod of gratitude to the cover fairies who have been so very good to me! I do adore the Bibliophile Mystery covers. Love, love, love!!!
That’s a great idea!
I got them all this time but found the changed Terror/Horror title and rear door because of what I saw in the comments as I scrolled down earlier.
Love this, Kate! And I especially love that there’s another wonderful Bibliophile Mystery being released soon – yay!!
I found all 12, the last one being “deadly” to “silly”
Yayyyyyyyy!!!!!! Beth, you’re the third out of – what, fifteen – who has gotten all 12 differences. That makes you a superstar! LOL I’m so glad everyone is having as much fun with this as I am. I just love it!
I missed #3 and #9, but I kept thinking there was something wrong with the candle, but couldn’t put my finger on it. Darn it. *LOL* Still I did better than I usually do. Lots of fun! Thanks!
That’s so fun! So even though you were examining the candle, your eye didn’t hone in on the dripping wax. It’s amazing what people can do with Photoshop, isn’t it? How do they DO that????? I’m glad you had fun, Hellion!
Loved the One Foot in the Gravy. I got 11. Missed the acorn as the newel post. I was so proud of finding the candle wax and the closed door, I managed to overlook the obvious!
LOL!!! Isn’t that just the way? I actually thought the candle wax was pretty obvious. It’s bright white, right in the center, but I think it’s one of those things where if you don’t see it right away, you might never see it. After that first glance, your eye just passes over some of those little details.
Yes I did! I LOVE this game. I’ve played this before in other places and I find it fun and challenging to spot all of the differences. I don’t give up until I have found them all. Thanks so much for such a clever way to keep your readers entertained!
Thank you, Connie! That’s such a nice thing to say!
I love fun games like this. I only missed 2. Thanks for the fun!
Which two did you miss, Ellen? So curious! I’m glad everyone’s having as much fun with this as I did. I really love it! Addictive!
What fun! I have loved this since Highlights as a child. Number 1 was the last one I “got”…way too obvious. I should do this the next time with my glasses on!
A great idea and most appropriate for cozy mystery series!
LOL on the title being way too obvious! That’s how I felt AFTER the answers were pointed out! The first one I saw was “ONE BOOK IN THE GRAVY,” and I chortled. Seriously, chortled. I love this so much!
Hahah! Linda, I see now that I’ve posted that you like Highlights too. :> So fun!
Yeah! How fun! I’m already preordered, so yippeee! It’ll be soon.
I missed two – One Book in teh Gravy and the Horror/Terror switch on the magazine. The others, miraculously, I got. Ha!
I love the idea and would so totally hang out on your website playing. It’s like the old games in the kids magazine Highlights. Hahaha! I used to be very good at those…
Whenever I go to the doctor’s office, I look for the Highlights. I suppose it would be wrong for me to fill in all the answers before the kids got a hold of the magazine, wouldn’t it?
LOL!!!!! I’m cracking myself up here!!!!
Congratulations on the new release. I enjoy thesse types of “puzzles.” I missed one and it was the most obvious: you in the suit of armor.
Oh, that’s a fun one to miss, Kim! Once you read that one, did you recognize me peeking out? It’s so small, I’m not sure anyone can tell it’s me, but even so, it is fun!
Close but no cigar – I got 11. I missed no. 7 – silly. I looked at the title but not the little blurb. I love those things lol. (Had the answers not been there I would have kept looking until I found it – I get very obsessive about those things lol).
I thought about being cruel and not posting the answers, but I couldn’t bring myself to do it. Still, I bet you would’ve figured out “silly” eventually!
Kate, that was a lot of fun! I found 12, but one of them wasn’t listed, so maybe I’m imagining it! I didn’t see the cat by the pinball machine, but did see a border on the left cover by the deer head. Really, I can’t see it on the right cover, but maybe it’s an optical illusion (to me). Some of them were really tricky, like the dripping wax on the candle, the title of the magazines, and the post at the bottom of the staircase. I would check out puzzles you put on your website.
Oh, that’s funny, Deb! Yes, it must be an optical illusion – or maybe something on your computer screen – because there were no changes made to the deer head… other than putting a dinosaur head on the wall near him. LOL
Well, darn. I even enlarged the picture….I see a border or a water stain on the wall. It goes straight across then angles up. Haha, just reading into something I guess.
LOL!!! If it’s there, a ghost did it!
That was fun. Got 11 but missed he dripping candle wax. I must need new glasses because I thought he door open was a bookshelf and the books hd been removed.LOL! Love your books! Can’ t wait for Brooklyn’s next adventure!
Oh, Dinah, it would’ve been a great idea to put a bookshelf there instead of just a closed door! Maybe we’ll do that for the version that will be posted on my website.
I’m so glad you’re looking forward to Brooklyn’s next adventure. I can’t tell you how much fun I had writing PERIL IN PAPERBACK! It’s my homage to Agatha Christie… a group of strangers, trapped together in a snowstorm in a mansion in the woods… and one of them is murdered.
What fun! Only missed tw – the candle dripping and title change on the book laying on the table! Oh well. Thanks Kate! Loved your word find booklet, too!
oops – two!
LOL!!! I found the missing O in “two!”
I’m so glad you loved the puzzle and the word search booklet, Sue. I wanted to come up with fun extras that mystery readers would love.
Got all but the candlestick and the change
to gravy! I’d play the games if available on
your site.
Pat C.
I’m glad you had fun, Pat, and thanks for your vote on the games. I’m going to do it! I’ll let you know when they’re posted.
Love it! I would definitely play games on your site. Or if you do enough of them to print them out sometime! I found ten of them–missed the wax and the closed door.
That wax is getting almost everyone! The closed door is tricky, too. It’s all the way at the back of the room, so it’s easy to miss. You did well, though!
Aaaaah!
I got only ten before I gave up.
I missed the dripping candle and I missed the title change from terror to horror. *grin*
I can’t wait for this book.
Cassondra, you mean you’re a QUITTER???? That’s not right!
Seriously, 10 is really good! We made a couple of them really tough on purpose. It’s no fun if it’s easy.
That was fun. I found 10 of them and the last one I found was the door that was closed. I just missed The Grip of Horror (I read it but didn’t pick up the different word) and the candle drip.
I love that you read the book title but still didn’t get it! It’s amazing how easy it is for our eyes to slide right past something that, in retrospect, is so obvious!
I love these types of cozy mysteries!
I missed two ~ The candle wax and the closed door. How did I miss the closed door?
I love these types of puzzles. Thanks Kate.
What fun. I missed the wax, but had a very good time. Thank you.
i love this game
i with you Mre, i missed the wax too
I got 9 on the first quick try! Fun and I’d definitely play on your website!
