The older I get (lets not talk about that) and the crazier life gets (holy cow, lets definitely not talk about that) the more I appreciate how lucky I am to have a fabulous circle of friends. The Romance Bandits is the perfect example of how special friends can be. Most people who read the blog know our history, we all came together as Golden Heart finalists, so that and a love for writing were pretty much our common bonds. Within the group there were already tight friendships. Beth and Anna and I have been tight friends since 2004, for instance. These are my girls. The ones I turn to to celebrate my writing joys, to commiserate the woes. But also the ones I worry about my kids with, freak out over life changes and insane parents and chat hairstyles with. We talk food and crafts and how to lose those last darned ten pounds. We exercise together, we cry together, we write together. All of the Romance Bandits have these bonds that intersect and tie us together, that make us stronger. John Donne said “No Man is an Island…” I’m so on board with that, and truly grateful for awesome friends. Hang on -gotta pause and sniffle for a second.
Okay.. got it together again
One of the fabulous things, IMO, about having friends who do what you do (in this case, write fab romances) is that you can do so much together. Like right now, a handful of the Romance Bandits, along with Liz Bemis who designed this fab-o site and a number of the Bandits sites, are doing a fun group promotion. The prizes are awesome (e-reader, charm bracelet, tons of books, crystal-topped wand, banner design, oh so much) Have you checked it out? If you’re on Facebook, all you have to do is Like all of our pages (as if you didn’t already *beg*) and fill out the form. Easy peasy, right? Since we’re doing the friend thing for this contest, The fabulous Donna MacMeans shared this about doing promotions with friends:
I love promoting in a group which is just one reason I love Romance Bandits. Seriously, I feel odd promoting myself. Somewhere in the back of my brain I have this feeling that this is something good girls don’t do. But I have no problem whatsoever with promoting my fellow banditas. It helps that they are all such excellent writers (grin).
So tell me – Do you have a special group of friends who have your back? A fun group you play with? Or a BFF who you have a deep, wonderful bond with?
