Our Memorial Day will be observed in a quieter
manner this year. Our dear sister-in-law, Carolyn,
passed away early Friday morning. She is the
spouse of a Navy veteran, so she will be buried
at the Houston National Cemetary, surrounded
by the flags which decorate the area.

Hey Kate!! Happy Memorial Day to you!

Hubby fixed the pool pump, so I’m hoping it’s going to be warm enough this weekend to christen the pool for the first time this year. The cloudy weather yesterday and today aren’t giving me much hope.

I love all the pictures in the flag and the meanings of the starts, stripes and colors!!

Can’t wait to read the Cookbook Conspiracy!

Hey Kate! My weekend is all about honoring the service – like Donna, I’m flying the flag and have the bunting out. (the drapy things) Grins.

But, like most memorial weekends for the last few year,s ours is alllllll about BASEBALL! My eldest is a travel-team-level baseball player and they just won the first game of two for today. Since it’s only 58 degrees here right now – brrrrr!!! – the usual BBQ/pool activities aren’t going over well with the fam. Ha! I’m used to it being sultry and freakin’ hot as fire this weekend.

Not so much! Did I mention that it’s also really windy? Instead of going to the ballgame, I”m watcing it on a computer program called GameChanger. One of the dads scores on his iPad and it uploads. That way I can “watch” from home. I couldn’t ask the younger brother to sit for around 9 hours in the cold watching baseball. :>

So, the youngest and I worked in the yard some this morning, but he actually got cold, and wanted to come in. :> I usually am a lover of the colder weather, but this is unnatural! We had to turn on the HEAT last night! yikes! It’s the end of MAY!!

I’m totally looking forward to the Cookbook Conspiracy! I love all your books, and this one sounds just as fun as the others. :>

We’ll do BBQ tonight, and if the wind dies and it stays this cold (likely) we’ll fire up the fire pit too! :> Good times! More baseball tomorrow too….and hopefully Monday…

Super idea Connie! I’m jealous that you’ve been to Normandy. My hubby is a huge WWII buff. Both his father and mine served in WWII. My father in Patton’s army’s medical corps in France and Brussells, his father in the pacific, also in the med corps. WE’ve both always wanted to go to Normandy. I also want to go to St. Thierry, where his several-times-great uncle is buried, from WWI. :>
