Feats of Strength and Bandita Booty

AND the answer is…. Which so many of you correctly guessed… I can rip a phone book in half. Yes.  It’s true.  I learned while I worked for Proctor and Gamble at their Winton Hill campus in Cincinnati back in the 70s.  I was young, single, slim with long blonde hair.  P&G was on a movement to put women in traditionally male positions, so they put me on the shipping/receiving dock in the Administrative building.  Not much freight moves in and out of an Administrative building – just magazines for the library (which I confisicated sometimes before adding to the

Rust City Book Con

Last weekend I had a great time at the Rust City Book Con in Troy, Michigan which is a suburb of Detroit. The con was put together by the very enthusiastic and energetic blogger, Jackie of Literary Escapism. You know, it’s August.  In the US, it’s freakin’ HOT, humid and, unless you’re in the pool, fairly miserable.  As you ALL know, I’m a winter girl, not a summer one.  I don’t love the hot weather, never have. I remember growing up in the Carolinas, with no air conditioning.  Wearing as little as possible, and having a very hard time sleeping because it was so hot and still.  Even in the mountains, you get those days and nights that are just impossibly hot, sticky and still. We had a week of those here last week.  I spent a lot

Hi, everybody, and welcome to August in the Lair!  The weather in my part of the world is sweltering this month, so I’m glad to kick back, let Sven pamper me, and see what everybody’s up to.  Here’s the list for this month: Bandita Jeanne will blog on her usual day of August 8th.  Expect some “forthcoming books” news and maybe even a cover reveal!  Even if it’s not on the 8th, keep a weather eye out for notices of other blogs this month which will feature a cover reveal…big stuff coming soon! Bandita Nancy is going to blog about
