A SEAL’s Kiss: Let’s Party!

It’s Happy Dancing Time!!!   Sven, bring in the dancing boys, please!  Cue the music.  Load the confetti in those balloons and let them fly.   I’m so excited about this release.  Now, granted, I tend to be excited about all of my releases to one degree or another.  But this story is a special one to me because the heroine was so fun to write, and she’s one I put a lot of myself into.  Her friends call her a free spirit, but everyone knows they mean she’s a flake.  Now, granted, few people have called me a flake

It’s Just Plain Wrong!

Are you like me? Do you see or hear mistakes made in the language that just drive you nuts? I’m a retired English teacher and a writer, of course, so naturally I’m more sensitive to grammatical errors than most people, but some “mistakes” are finding their way into the language as part of the normal usage. Newscasters, journalists, writers – I see all of them violate basic rules.  I’m not talking about emails or texts; I understand that speed is important in today’s communication tools.  I get that “kno” means “know,” that “their,” “there,” and “there” have become interchangeable when

Perfect Saturday Morning

This is the first free Saturday morning our family has enjoyed in a long time.   I can’t even say what we’ve been doing that’s been so busy.  It’s just a lot of life.  A little of this, a little of that.  Sports, dance, meetings, vacations, work.  But this morning?  Nothing.   Absolutely nothing.  Here’s how I plan to enjoy it.  1) Wake nobody up.  I wake people up all week long & believe me, nobody thanks me for it.  This morning I’m letting those cranky pants stay in bed. 2) Read the newspaper.  Most mornings my girls stage a

I Didn’t Start The Fire…

Yep, the Billy Joel song from 1989 has been rolling through my mind for almost 3 weeks now. Why? Because I have a warped sense of humor and we had a small kitchen fire. It wasn’t too terrible, but did scorch up the hideous Pepto Bismal® pink laminant counter top and back splash I’ve had to endure for the better part of 15 years, since we bought the house. I’ve spent years hating this stuff and daydreaming of how I’d remodel the kitchen. So, you might think I “accidentally” started the fire that would get it replaced, wouldn’t you? I

A Pet By Any Other Name…

I had all kinds of pets when I was little. My first dog was Princess. She was a pekingese mix, and she came with that name already installed. I got her when I was three and she was three.  I grew up as she grew old.  She was my best friend.     Since I grew up on a farm, I also had “my” chicken, Henny Penny, and “my” cow, Rosie.  I had a pony named Peanut (name also pre-installed).  Kittens were Chocolate and Vanilla. Yeah. Bet you can’t guess the colors.  And more kittens, Salt and Pepper.  Hey, at

Sentinel Launch Party

Sentinel is live on Amazon!  Whee!  I’m thrilled, so join me and celebrate.  Sven has made his usual fabulous array of canapés, the bar is open, and the Golden Rooster is away (so far). You may have noticed the green crepe paper streamers and the sun symbol string lights.  The green is in honor of the mages’ affiliation with nature and the lights are in honor of the way Rick Moore, the book’s hero, thinks about Caroline Dare, the heroine.  Rick and Caro will be here soon.  They make a striking couple, so you’ll recognize them when they come in.

How Book Release Dates Work

Today is Tuesday, March 25, which means it’s the last Tuesday in March, which means that many April books are being released today. Wait… what? April books are being released in March??? It’s confusing, isn’t it? But it’s true. Several publishers release books the last Tuesday of the month prior to the official release month. Therefore, a book labeled “April 2014” will be released on the last Tuesday of March, and a book labeled “May 2014” will be released on the last Tuesday of April, and so on. To make it more confusing, not all publishers do this. Not even
