This is the first scene in White Witch, due out later this month. It’s the first in my Coven trilogy from Bell Bridge Books. CHAPTER ONE Hot tears burn my eyes as I watch the last of the black hair coloring disappear from the tips of my long, blond hair, draining away into nothingness. I swipe at the tears as I curse my image. Fate seems determined to smack me at every turn. Not only does my witch DNA evidently make my hair resistant to dye, but soon I’m going to have to use the inhuman power I want so

How long have you been writing, and how has your writing changed over time? I began writing my first romance when I was in college in the early ’90s, but it often took a back burner to studying. I really got serious about writing for publication after I moved to Nashville and we started our local RWA chapter in 1996. It took me 11 years to make my first sale. I made all those beginner mistakes in those early years (hello, telling and info dumping). I’ve gotten more confident in my writing since then and hope I’m constantly improving. That’s

Once again Banditas and Bandit Buddies, we have our dear friend, Lorraine Heath, in the house. She’s talking with us about her new series, The Lost Lords of Pembrooke. Welcome to the new Bandit Lair, Lorraine. Pull up a chair and we’ll have Paolo serve some wine. Suz: One of the question authors get asked is where do you get your ideas. (My reply is usually, ” from the big book of story ideas,” but only to my coworkers.) But I am fascinated in how you came up with this series. Can you share that process with us? Lorraine: I’ve

I was watching the new television sitcom, “Whitney,” the other night. Mark was trying to get rid of a one-night stand who ended up being a several nights’ stay over. He characterizes her as using the word “supposively.” Or maybe it was “supposably.” Whatever. Later I was reading a book on my Kindle and the author used the same word. Seriously. I almost threw my Kindle against the wall until I remembered it wasn’t actually a book. Now, I’ve been guilty of all sorts of wrong words usage. The favorite my family still reminds me of is when I used

I’m going to go ahead & admit this: I’m not a joiner. I talk to the people in my head as a career choice, and just yesterday I seriously considered going out in my Miss Piggy pajamas. (In my defense, they are fleece & pink & delightful.) So when I learned that I probably needed to join a writers group to get any better at writing, I’m not going to lie: I resisted. Hard. But I knew I needed help, & eventually I gathered the necessary courage & did it. I went to a meeting of my local RWA chapter.
