That’s right! It’s finally here! That tricksey night which comes once a year…Halloween! I know, I know, it’s bad poetry. Scary even. Heehee. But nevertheless, HAPPY HALLOWEEEEEEEEEN!!!! I wracked my brain for a new topic this year. I’ve talked about kids Halloween books and trick or treating and scary movies, but I realized I had not yet talked about scary books! Shriek! Gasp! Horrors! How could I have missed the best, most wonderful topic of ALL? Especially as a writer, in amongst a band of scary-good Bandita writers, in a world of astonishing guests who bring us fabulously wonderfully delicious books. Really,

Cassondra is traveling, but she and I will pick our Trick winner for the 27th and put her/his name in the pot, with the announcement of the other winners for the 27th coming tomorrow, too. As of now, entries for the Halloween trick prize and general prizes for

Please welcome back a Lair favorite, NYT best-selling author, Brenda Novak. Her latest trilogy (INSIDE and IN SECONDS) are currently available, and IN CLOSE, the third book in the trilogy, will be released October 25. Brenda’s published over 40 books and is beginning a new venture. Tell us all about what’s happening to you, Brenda. One question I used to get asked more than any other (besides “Where do you get your ideas?” – which will probably always be #1) was, “How did you get published?” This will probably surprise the younger generation, but there was a time in the not so distant past when

You may have noticed, dear readers, that where we were once twenty, we are now nineteen. I’m sorry to say, it’s true. The unthinkable, the inevitable actually happened this summer. (This is starting to sound tragic, isn’t it? But breathe easy. Nobody died. I’m just the dramatic sort & I don’t deal well with change.) See, what happened was this: One of our beloved bandita sisters strayed far enough from the romance road that our little lair was no longer an easy daily commute. It’s fall and finally cooling down, down here in Texas. (I mean seriously, 39 consecutive days over 100 degrees?) This is when I start to miss Ohio. The cool weather, the leaves turning colors, my mama’s cooking. So today I’m going to let you in on a secret family recipe and a brand new one! Stepping into the nearly empty, brand spanking new kitchen of the Lair, I set my box of special ingredients on the counter. Thank goodness Sven and his minions Paolo and Mario have finally retired for the night! Geesh, a girl has to sneak around just
